Privacy Policy
What DorDSP collects on this website and in its apps and plugins, what we use it for, and how to have it deleted.
Last updated October 10, 2026
The short version
- Strobe Tuner and Simple Edit collect nothing. They have no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Strobe Tuner listens through the microphone to measure pitch, and that audio never leaves your device.
- Licensed apps send only what activation needs. DMC60, Elastic Chop, and Kit Pro send your email, license key, and a machine identifier when you unlock them.
- The website keeps what a purchase needs. That is your email, name, and license. Card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
- We do not sell your personal information. Advertising cookies are optional and can be switched off at any time.
- You can ask for your data or have it deleted. Email support@dordsp.com and we will take care of it.
Who we are
DorDSP is a small, independent software company in Emeryville, California, USA. We make audio plugins and apps, and we run dordsp.com to sell and support them. DorDSP is responsible for the personal information described here. For any privacy question or request, email support@dordsp.com or use the contact page.
This policy covers dordsp.com and every DorDSP app and plugin: Strobe Tuner, Simple Edit, DMC60, Elastic Chop, and Kit Pro.
Our apps and plugins
None of our apps or plugins contain advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking code, and none of them track you across other companies' apps or websites. What each one does with data is listed below.
Strobe Tuner
Strobe Tuner does not collect, store, or share any personal information. There is no account and nothing to sign in to.
- Microphone. The app asks for microphone access so it can hear your instrument and measure its pitch. Audio is analyzed in memory on your device as it arrives. It is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, by us or anyone else. You can withdraw access at any time in your device's privacy settings; the app simply stops listening.
- Settings. Your choices, such as the reference pitch, tuning preset, and input device, are saved on your device only.
- Network. The App Store version makes no network requests at all. The version downloaded from dordsp.com has a Check for Updates command in the Help menu. Only when you choose it, the app fetches a small version file from our download server. That request contains nothing about you beyond what any web request carries, such as your IP address.
If you buy Strobe Tuner on the App Store, Apple handles the purchase under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment details from Apple.
Simple Edit
Simple Edit does not collect, store, or share any personal information. It makes no network requests and asks for no privacy permissions. It reads only the audio files you open, and your edits stay on your Mac.
DMC60, Elastic Chop, and Kit Pro
These products are unlocked with a license key. The audio you play, record, and process in them stays on your computer. They contact our server only in the cases below.
- Activation. When you unlock a product, it sends the email address and license key you typed in, an identifier for that computer generated by the app, your operating system, and the app version. We use these to confirm the license, enforce the limit on how many computers it can run on, and help you if activation fails.
- DMC60 cloud sync (optional). Sync runs only when you click Sync Now. It uploads your DMC60 projects and programs, including any samples saved inside them, to storage tied to your license email so your other computers can download them. Delete Cloud Data in the app removes everything immediately. If a trial ends without a purchase, or a license ends, synced files are kept for 60 days and then deleted automatically.
- DMC60 feedback (optional). Help > Send Feedback sends the message you write, your email address if you choose to give one, and technical context: the app version, plugin format, host application, operating system, sample rate, and buffer size.
What the website collects
Information you give us
- Purchases. Checkout runs on Stripe. We receive your email address, your name, and Stripe's reference numbers for the payment, and we store them with the license we issue. We never see or store your card number.
- Free trials. We ask for your email address, and your name if you give it, send a confirmation link, and issue a trial license once you confirm. A trial includes a few emails about the trial itself, each with an unsubscribe link.
- Release updates. If you sign up for release news, we keep your email address on that list until you unsubscribe.
- Contact form and email. Your name, email address, and message are delivered to our support inbox.
- Support chat. The Help assistant is an AI model. We store the conversation, the page you opened it on, and your email address if you provide one. To answer, the conversation is processed by our AI provider. If you ask the assistant about your license, it emails you a one-time code first to confirm the address is yours. Please do not put sensitive information in the chat.
- Reviews. The display name, rating, and text you submit are published on the site once approved. An email address is optional and is never shown.
- Site search. What you type into search is sent to our search provider to return results.
Information collected automatically
- IP address. Like every website, our servers see your IP address. We use it to limit abuse of forms and the chat, and to work out your country so we can show local prices and the right cookie settings. Where we keep an IP with a review or a chat, we store a one-way hash of it rather than the address itself.
- Error reports. When something breaks, a small sample of visits sends a technical error report to Sentry, and occasionally a session replay with on-page text and typed input masked. We have configured it not to collect user details, IP addresses, or the contents of requests.
- Analytics and advertising. See the next section.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- deliver what you bought or signed up for: license keys, downloads, activation, cloud sync, and trial emails;
- answer support requests and fix bugs;
- keep the site and license service secure and free of abuse;
- understand which pages and ads are useful, where you allow it;
- meet legal and tax obligations for sales.
Where the law asks for a legal basis, such as in the EU and UK: purchases, licensing, sync, and support rest on our contract with you; security, abuse prevention, error reports, and cookie-free analytics rest on our legitimate interest in running a working, safe service; and analytics cookies, marketing cookies, and release emails rest on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use your audio, projects, or files to train AI models.
How long we keep it
- Licenses and activations are kept for as long as the license exists, because the product needs them to unlock and we need them to recover a lost key. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Cloud sync files are kept until you delete them, or 60 days after your license ends.
- Support chats, contact messages, and feedback are kept while they are useful for support and for improving the products, and are deleted on request.
- Release updates: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics and error data are kept under the retention settings of the provider that holds them.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, export it, or delete it. Email support@dordsp.com from the address the data is tied to and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge, and asking never affects your license or the service you receive.
- Delete synced files yourself at any time with Delete Cloud Data in DMC60.
- Stop emails with the unsubscribe link in any trial or release email.
- Switch off cookies in .
- Withdraw microphone access for Strobe Tuner in your device settings.
Deleting a license record means the product can no longer be activated with it, and we may need to keep basic purchase records where the law requires. If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK you also have the right to object to or restrict our use of your information and to complain to your local data protection authority. California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct their information and to opt out of its sale or sharing; switching off marketing cookies is how to opt out of the advertising uses described above.
Where information is processed
DorDSP is based in the United States, and the providers listed above operate there and in other countries. If you use our site or licensed products from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
Security
Connections to the site and to the license service are encrypted, payment details are handled entirely by Stripe, and access to customer data is limited to the people who need it for support. No system is perfectly secure, so if you believe your license or data has been misused, tell us at support@dordsp.com.
Children
Our website and licensed products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Strobe Tuner and Simple Edit collect no personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@dordsp.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant and we have your email address as a customer, we will let you know by email.
Questions
Reach us through the contact page or at support@dordsp.com. We respond within 24–48 hours on business days. Purchases and refunds are covered separately in the purchase terms.
