Elastic Chop: Drop a Break In, Play It Back in Pieces

Elastic Chop is available now for Mac as a standalone app, a VST3 plugin, and an Audio Unit. Drag a loop in and it chops itself at every hit. Play the pieces back on 32 pads, in time with your track, at any pitch.

**Chop it four ways** Drop a file in and every hit is already a chop. Turn the sensitivity up for more, down for fewer. Prefer a grid? Cut it into quarters, eighths, sixteenths, or triplets, with the tempo found for you or typed in. Hit a pad while the sample plays and a chop lands right there, with late hits snapping to the nearest drum hit. And you can always double-click to add a chop or drag one to move it.

Chops are markers, not cuts. Your audio file stays exactly as it was, nothing is overwritten, and everything is undoable.

**Pitch and speed, together or apart** Turn KEY and the pitch moves while the speed stays put. Three stretch modes cover the ground: Percussive keeps drums and breaks sharp and tight, Transparent is smoother for vocals and melodies, and Repitch gives you the classic sampler sound where speed and pitch move together.

**Locked to your project** Sync is on by default, so chops play in time with your session and follow tempo changes. Quantize snaps your pad hits to the beat, from a sixteenth to a bar. Everything you play is captured as you go: drag the DRAG MIDI cell into your DAW and it drops in as a MIDI clip. In Ableton Live the VST3 can also send MIDI straight to another track.

**32 pads, per-pad control** Each sample holds up to 32 chops, one per pad, always reading left to right in the order the sample plays. It loads WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and MP3, and runs in any Mac DAW that hosts VST3 or AU instruments: Logic, Ableton Live, Bitwig, Reaper, Studio One, Cubase, and FL Studio. The standalone app works on its own, so you can chop without opening a DAW at all.

**Pricing and trial** The launch price is $20 for a perpetual license, down from the regular $25, through November 30, 2026. UK customers pay £16 at launch and £20 regular. One license covers standalone, VST3, and AU on up to three computers, with free updates through the current major version.
